Maplewood Porchfest 2021

  • Dehart Community Center and Throughout Hilton Neighborhood 120 Burnett Avenue Maplewood, NJ, 07040 United States (map)

The best place to start Porchfest is in our walking parade, gathering at Noon, the Dehart Community Center. No parade registration, just show up (bring an instrument or noisemaker if you like). After the parade, the first bands go on at 1pm all over Hilton.

Maplewood Porchfest 2021 is scheduled for Sunday September 5 (rain date Monday September 6) from 1-5 PM. Just as in previous years, our free event will feature numerous porches around the Hilton neighborhood of Maplewood with a wide array of music and entertainment throughout the afternoon.

We are so happy to have Porchfest right here in Maplewood, but did you know that we aren't alone? Far from it! From Ithaca (where it all started about a decade ago) to Philly, Seattle to Westhaven, Jacksonville to Fredericksburg to Boston (like, a dozen in the Boston area alone!), and lots in between, Porchfests are everywhere!

Maplewood Porchfest was the brainchild of local pianist/vocalist Bill Tally, who went to Jamaica Plain Porchfest in Boston every year. He brought the idea to friends in his hometown, put together a committee of musicians from Maplewood Community Music to run the event. The committee chose the Hilton neighborhood for its perfect layout, easy walkability, and its porches (of course).

Maplewood Community Music is the official presenter of Maplewood Porchfest.

The Hilton Neighborhood Association is a key supporter. Along with an annual donation, the group provides several volunteers on the day of the event.
