The group’s diverse repertoire heavily features the works of notable Latin American composers like Astor Piazzolla, Mongo Santamaría, Aldemaro Romero, and Paquito D'Rivera, alongside the original compositions and arrangements of the quartet’s own members.

What’s more, the group inventively incorporates improvisation, percussive, and extended techniques that artfully fuse the western classical traditions in which they were trained with the jazz, rock, hip-hop, and Latin rhythms on which they were raised.

Separately hailing from Venezuela, Argentina, Russia, and the Bronx, together these musicians give voice to a sound that is both rooted in tradition and entirely new. Sweet Plantain is the kind of multicultural, chamber music group that can only be found in New York.

Fishmarket Stew is a band based in Maplewood, New Jersey that only plays
the music performed by the band Phish. Comprised of four SOMA residents:
Eric de Picciotto (guitar), David Diamond (bass), Lev Kuperman (drums), and Dave Shields (keyboards) use the Phish catalogue as a launching pad for their own improvised music.

Lyndon Achee was born and raised in Trinidad. An active performer in New York, he has recorded and performed with Nile Rodgers' R.T. G. Productions, Anthony Braxton, Eric Leeds' Paisely Park release, David Pleasant, Jay Hoggard, Arnie Lawrence, Winston Grennan, and at the Lincoln Center Summer Concert Series, with the Village Drums of Freedom.

ZööS - ZööS (pronounced "Zeus") will shock and delight you with the majesty of rock infused with our original twists and influences from all corners of the world.

Led by the fierce, soulful vocals of Rachel Hollingsworth, Night Pony blends a love for melodic, accessible songwriting with our deep roots in the jam band world-- prioritizing improvisation and danceable grooves, but also vocals and guitar leads that are tasteful and timeless.

Night Pony is heading out on tour in August 2021 to support their debut record "Things We Yell In The Night", released in July 2021.

We are the Cherry Lane Sean’s based out of Essex County, NJ! We cover a range of songs from Johnny Cash, to Beach Bunny, to Nirvana, to The Grateful Dead.

LAREDO are Larry Hardie and Ed Melee on guitars and vocals, and Gary Shippy on drums and vocals. They play a wide ranging variety of rock and roll, folk, blues and country songs. Their live performances always get the audience dancing, and usually singing along. The band often invites musician friends from the Maplewood/South Orange community to play along with them at their shows. The many years of playing together has wrought a tight, professional stage presence that entices and delights audiences young and old alike.

The Magic Flute is a fairy tale of darkness, light, and finding your way in the world. It takes the form of a Singspiel, which means it includes singing AND spoken dialogue (a bit like a musical).

The annual South Orange Maplewood Artists Studio Tour, presented by ArtSOMA: The Artist Community of South Orange & Maplewood, NJ and Studio Montclair, Inc., will be held the first full weekend in November, 11/7 and 8, from 11:00 am - 5:00 pm.

Set in rural Italy, these two classic one-act works tell stories of the most operatic of emotions. In Cavalleria Rusticana (“Rustic Chivalry”), a woman abandoned by her lover seeks revenge – and gets it. In Pagliacci (“The Clowns”), a traveling theatre troupe is torn apart by infidelity, jealousy, and ultimately murder.

Bruno L. Lee, also known as ‘The Trumpet Man,’ performs Gospel, Jazz, R&B, Reggae and other genres of music, is a resident of Maplewood, NJ and an Alumnus of Hampton University, Hampton, VA.

These days we are experiencing a great deal of societal change - In this panel discussion we will hear perspectives from the Arts and Entertainment industry on how their fields are participating and enabling dynamic movements in society. We will explore the pace of change, and what results can be obtained and at what cost. Panelists will come from the fields of Theater, Sports, Visual Art, Music, Spoken Word and Video.

The Theater Project (TTP) is confronting one of the most controversial issues of our time in Black Lives / Blue Lives and making it available via Zoom to groups around the country. This original pair of one-acts, written by two accomplished screenwriters, explores each side of the police/race dynamic and uses the performances as a launch point for discussion and understanding.

Autumn Jones is a singer-songwriter from Maplewood, New Jersey, and a recent graduate from Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA. The soulful r&b she creates is an expression of her life experiences as told through her stories told in each of her songs, which are available on all major platforms. She has had success performing in the Boston area at venues such as City Winery, Ryles Jazz Club, Midway Cafe and Hard Rock Cafe. She's also had recent success in New York City, New Jersey and Spain with her performances at Silvana in Harlem, Rockwood Music Hall in Manhattan and Radio City in Valencia.

As part of the Village Sunset Music Series, Motion Arts Dance Studio will be showcasing their Senior dancers this Saturday at 6:00pm.

Viva Flamenco is a New Jersey based flamenco-arts organization directed by Toni Messina who's been a teacher, dancer and singer for over twenty years. Her group has performed in venues as wide ranging as theaters, outdoor festivals, children's shows, restaurants and academic settings, to name a few. The goal of VivaFlamenco is not only to share the wonderful culture of Flamenco dance, music and song with the public, but also to involve the audience in Flamenco's interactive spirit which makes the art form so exciting.

Maplewood’s Blue Sphere Jazz Quartet plays jazz warm and cool, from Miles Davis and Bill Evans to the Latin and funk grooves of Horace Silver and Herbie Hancock. Featuring some of the area’s finest musicians — including Bill Tally (piano and vocals), John Lenis (bass), Rich Falcetano (guitar) and John Straus and Mitch Germansky (drums) — their music adds a cool, relaxed vibe to downtown Maplewood’s burgeoning outdoor dining scene.
